less democracy and more law...

As the integration advances, the European citizens are progressively losing control on the law-making process. This evolution is not so much provoked by a clear political will to weaken democracy than by successives, insiduous and inexorable shifts of competences from the National to the Supranational level. Of course some efforts are made to democratize the European institutions and it would be dishonnest not to recognize that the EU parliament has been endowed with much more power than before but the rate in which democracy is improving is definitely lower than the rate in which bureaucracy is advancing, and this is bad news!
